THE X GROOVE EXPLAINED

THE UPSTROKE

Fuel and DebrisFuel washdown and debris

Protective FilmOil Film Protecting most critical part of piston skirt

On the upstroke, fuel wash down, normal wear debris and break-in debris are swept into the X Groove and exit into the oil pan, keeping the protective oil film intact on the most critical part of the skirts and cylinders.

THE downSTROKE

Fuel and DebrisOil Drainback Holes

Protective FilmOil Film and trapped debris

On the down stroke, excess oil and remaining debris are swept into the x groove and exit through the oil drain back holes, keeping the clearance between the piston and cylinder wall cleaner also reducing the oil load on the oil ring.
